Fiji's Supreme Court has granted the Fiji Public Service Association and the Fijian Teachers Association leave to appeal the retirement age decision.

Supreme Court Judge Justice Randall Powell further ordered that the decision of the Court of Appeal is stayed until the decision of the Supreme Court or further order.

In his ruling, Justice Powell stated that the earliest an appeal to the Supreme Court could be heard and determined was June this year and, absent a stay, persons in the age category of 55 years and over could be dismissed in the meantime.
