American Samoa is hoping to receive an estimated US$67 million under provisions of the U.S. Department of Education's stimulus money, which would make it the largest single allocation for the territory from the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act .

Manager of the territory's Economic Stimulus Office, Pat Galeai, says American Samoa is expected to receive the biggest share of the education stimulus money.

The distribution among the territories is based on needs in each respective territory to be determined by the Secretary of Education in consultation with the Secretary of the Interior.

Mr Galeai says all four U.S. territories are asking for "an equal" share of the stabilization fund.
