Tonga's representative to the United Nations is the new Deputy Director General of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community, to be based in Suva, Fiji.
Fekitamoeloa Katoa 'Utoikamanu is also the Ambassador to the United States, Venezuela and Cuba, and High Commissioner to Canada.
The Secretariat's Director General says Ms 'Utoikamanu is strongly supportive of its role in the region, particularly in relation to fulfilling the aims of the Pacific Plan.
She takes up the new position on Saturday.
