Fiji Secondary Schools Amateur Athletics Association to approach interim govt

9:18 am on 20 April 2009

The Fiji Secondary Schools Amateur Athletics Association will approach the interim Government this week to know its fate in the 2009 Fiji Finals.

This follows the promulgation of the Public Emergency Regulation last week after President Ratu Josefa Iloilovatu abrogated the 1997 Constitution.

The PER forbids gatherings in excess of 100 persons for safety reasons, hence placing the Fiji Finals under the microscope because more than 15,000 fans, student athletes and officials are expected to converge at the National Stadium in Suva from May 1.

Fijilive reports FSSAA president Vuli Waqa as saying that the association would approach the interim Government this week to know if they could still run at the National Stadium.
