The Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu is due to arrive shortly in Solomon Islands where he will launch the Truth and Reconciliation Commission tomorrow.
The South African Archbishop will meet the Solomon Islands Prime Minister and Governor General this afternoon, before addressing the nation and launching the Commission on Wednesday morning.
The permanent secretary of the Ministry for National Unity, Reconciliation and Peace, Joy Kere says thousands of people are expected to attended events being held in Honiara for the launch.
"We expecting the public to be at Lawson Tama to be part of the process. We are also hoping, we've invited our schools as well, our children from our schools so they can also have the morning off to attend the ceremony, public services are also given approval, half a day approval for people to attend."
Joy Kere says the Archbishop will also attend a public rally tomorrow evening, and workshops and meetings on Thursday.
