Resort operators in Fiji say guests are well aware of the situation in the country before they arrive.

The General Manager of Uprising, outside Suva, Alfie Christoffersen, says his business is still good despite widespread recession and political unrest.

He says his resort caters mainly for younger people, especially those on organised tours.

He says when they arrive they are all well informed.

"A lot of people ask this question of what is happening in the country and we just say it like it is reported, and they have access to the internet and things like that, so they are pretty well informed even before they get here."

The interim administration in Fiji is hoping the devaluation of the currency will help boost visitor numbers.
