Outrage over "Pocket God" phone game

Outrage has been expressed over a new video game available on the popular I-phone application, Pocket God, which has been described as offensive to Pacific Islanders.

The idea of the game is to torture and kill the inhabitants of an island with coconut palms and statues resembling the Moai of Easter Island, as well as a volcano in the background.

Hindu youths in New Zealand have voiced concern over the game, which uses a Hindu god as its main character.

A Pacific Mental Health researcher and Scoiologist, Karlo Mila-Schaaf, also says the game is racist and generally degrading.

"The basic premise is that yo're in control of your own tropical island, and with your big white hand you push around the brown natives, squash them, push them, hurt them or drown them all day. So there's no skill involved and the brown-skinned natives don't run, you don;t aim for them and shoot, they're just completely helpless and at your mercy in their little grass skirts."
