The Governor of the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas, Benigno Fitial, has again extended the state of disaster emergency for the Commonwealth Utilities Corporation.
This time he has cited as the reason the administration's inability to find qualified candidates to hold positions on the CUC board of directors.
Legally, the board is meant to oversee the corporation's activities.
However, Mr Fitial wrote in his declaration that qualified candidates are unavailable.
The executive order is the 10th time a state of disaster emergency for the corporation has been declared.
