A leading methodist church minister who was interrogated for two days in Fiji and then released says he is still under investigation.

Reverend Manasa Lasaro was released from police custody on Saturday.

The former Methodist Church President says he was detained over a proposal for the church to discuss freedom, democracy and the legitimacy of the current military-led government.

Members of the church are due to gather for their annual conference in August.

Reverend Lasaro says there are no guarantees this year's conference, which draws about a thousand people, will go ahead.
