A team of doctors is expected in Fiji in September to perform valve replacements and pacemaker surgeries for free.

Fijilive says the operations will be performed in Lautoka on about 26 to 28 people.

They are to be performed by a medical team from New Zealand and will be organised by the Friends of Fiji Heart Foundation.

It says usually from the 250 or 260 people being considered, a list is drawn up of about 40 possible patients.
