The Executives of the Methodist Church of Fiji are now seeking a meeting with the Prime Minister after the military and the Police decided that the annual Methodist Church Conference will not be allowed to go ahead.

Church President Reverend Ame Tugawe told Fijivillage that they hoped Commodore Bainimarama would agree to discuss the cancellation of the conference

A joint statement issued by the military and the Fiji Police said they have decided to take this action after submissions were made to the Methodist Church standing committee on the political situation in the country.

The military stated that in the past few months certain figure head members of the Methodist Church have tried to bring instability to the country by using the Church.
