A delegation from China has been in Fiji for a workshop to explore economic opportunities between the two countries.

China's Vice Minister for Commerce, Jiang Zengwei, led the delegation which also included a representative from the Chinese Chamber of Commerce.

In welcoming the delegation, Fiji's interim attorney general Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said it was a lesson for all that China's leaders had created an economic powerhouse without compromising its sovereignty and independence.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said Fiji offered the most developed infrastructure of the Southern Pacific Island nations, opportunities for partnerships, tax incentives, and a readily employable work force.
