Tonga gets reconditioned French army trucks

6:42 pm on 4 June 2009

France has delivered 15 reconditioned army trucks to the Tongan military forces.

The vehicles, which are worth about 1.1 million US dollars, were delivered as a gift by the outgoing head of the French military in New Caledonia and the Fiji-based French ambassador.

According to Oceania Flash, the gift has been described as a symbol of the friendship between France and Tonga.

The report says the French visit coincided with a stop in Tonga of a New Caledonia-based French warship.
