The Chief executive of South Pacific Travel, Tony Everett, says China is one of the growing tourism markets in the world which Solomon Islands can tap into.
South Pacific Travel is the regional body that deals with the tourism industry through marketing and developing of tourism.
The Solomon Star news reports Mr Everett was visiting Honiara last week and spoke on the impact of the economic turndown on tourism and the potential tourism markets abroad.
It reports Mr Everett saying although Solomon Islands does not have any diplomatic ties with mainland China there is potential for the island nation to get more Chinese tourists by promoting the local tourism industry and lure them into niche markets.
He says as long as there are improved flight connections, better communication and language, cheaper flights and good attractions Chinese tourist would love to visit Solomon Islands.
