Papua New Guinea's health minister, Sasa Zibe, says he suspects he picked up swine flu last week when he attended the PNG Australia Ministerial Forum in Brisbane.

Mr Zibe has placed himself under quarantine after developing swine flu like symptoms.

Both PNG's newspapers the Post Courier and the National report that Mr Zibe wore a mask at a health conference on Monday because of fears he had contracted the flu.

He told the conference he must practice what he's been preaching.

Doctors have treated Mr Zibe with Tamiflu, taken swabs and the samples have been sent to Australia for testing.

Last Friday, PNG confirmed its first case of swine flu while the incidence in Australia is in the thousands..
