Fiji interim PM labels TVNZ report mischievious

Fiji's Interim Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, has raised concern about a Television New Zealand report which he says is misleading and mischievous.

The TVNZ report includes an interview with Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith on Fiji.

It includes footage of Fiji, and a short piece of fearful Islamic women looking from their doorsteps while Australian soldiers patrol the streets of Baghdad.

Commodore Bainimarama says the footage shown in New Zealand does not even say that the images are from Baghdad and it clearly implies that this is what is happening in Fiji.

He says the reports should be fair and some overseas TV reports are also showing footage of armed soldiers on the streets of Fiji.

He says the footage does not even say that it is file footage from the 1987 and 2000 coups.
