American Samoa Governor refuses to lift ban on old cars being imported

The American Samoan governor Togiola Tulafono is not going to lift a 2007 executive order banning the import into the territory of vehicles manufactured before 1999.

His comments come at a time when some individuals were voicing their concerns to lawmakers that a waiver would no longer apply.

"Any vehicle that was manufactured prior to 1999 will not be allowed to be imported. If you have gone ahead and imported despite the limited waiver that was granted for 30 days, then I'm sorry it'll have to be returned where it came from, at your expense."
