Swine flu cases rise in Fiji

7:17 pm on 6 July 2009

A nine year old boy is among eight new cases of people infected with swine flu in Fiji, bringing the number up to 27.

A Health ministry spokesperson Iliesa Tora told the FijiTimes that seven of the new cases are from Suva, while another was from Nadi.

Mr Tora says the very first four cases in the country have since been cleared, while others are expected to be cleared this week.

He says none of the remaining 23 cases have been hospitalised, instead they are being isolated, treated and monitored.
