Swine flu fears keep US Navy vessels off Guam

Swine flu fears have prompted three US war ships to stay offshore in Guam where they were due to be refuelled and restocked.

This came after some sailors exhibited flu-like symptoms, but the US Navy says it has not been determined if anyone on the vessels carries the H1N1 virus.

As a precaution, the ships stayed offshore and supplies and fuel were transported to them via other vessels.

The ships were on their way back to San Diego from deployment in the Gulf.
