Fiji gets 14 new foreign medical specialists

14 medical specialists, mainly from India, will be joining Fiji's health sector next month to help alleviate a doctor shortage.

Fijilive reports the new recruits include pathologists, an aesthetician and a radiologist and they will work at the hospitals in Suva, Lautoka and Labasa.

15 doctors and 97 nurses were among more than 300 Ministry of Health staff who were forced to retire at the end of April because they had reached the recently decreed retirement age to 55.
