Vodafone to enter French Polynesian market

1:42 pm on 15 July 2009

The French Polynesian government has agreed to allow Vodafone to enter the local mobile phone market.

Radio reports say talks are now underway with Vodafone's joint venture partner, Pacific Mobile Telecom, but no date has been set for the launch of the network.

A spokesman for PMT, Patrick Moux, has told RFO radio that the company will try to launch its service as soon as possible.

He says many issues still need to be addressed, but promises lower calling rates and better interconnection for those travelling overseas.
