Fiji employment minister wants role in wage talks

12:33 pm on 20 July 2009

Fiji's Employment Minister, Filipe Bole, says the Fiji Employers Federation will need to consult him first if any discussion on the new wages rate is to take place.

Mr Bole's comments come after Fiji Employers Federation President Dixon Seeto stated they are seeking further talks with the government.

The Fijivillage website says the Federation maintains that a further review of the new wage regulation is warranted.

The new wage order came into effect on July 1st after the initial implementation date was deferred in February.
