The United Workers Movement in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands is calling on a meeting with non-resident guest workers who have unpaid claims.

The Marianas Variety reports the organisation's president Rabby Syed says it wants to pursue a program initiated by the group's former president, to help guest workers who are seeking administrative order settlement.

Mr Syed told the paper, more than 100 guest workers with unpaid wages, and those with different labour problems have contacted them.

He says the meeting, to be held on Saturday at Kilili Beach in Susupe, is intended for a wide discussion on unpaid claims, immigration and labour issues.

Last year, Attorney Robert Myers filed a class-suit by over 130 guest workers demanding the Department of Labor to enforce the mandated law to collect employee's unpaid wages from their employers or the bonding companies.

Mr Syed says the organisation appreciates Mr Myers' efforts and hopes he will continue assisting the guest workers.
