15 people arrested in Papua over shootings

Indonesian police have reportedly arrested 15 people near the Freeport gold mine in Papua in relation to this month's shootings which left three people dead.

A police official has been quoted by Associated Press as saying 15 suspects had been held in connection with the recent attacks near the mine.

Papua police chief, Bagus Ekodanto, told the agency the suspects were questioned in relation over the ambushes last week at Freeport's operations.

A dozen people, mostly police officers, were also wounded in the deadly attacks over a five-day period from July 11th.
