Palau Ombudsman placed on leave under forgery allegations

10:16 pm on 4 August 2009

Palau's President has placed the ombudsman Moses Uludong under administrative leave as he faces a forgery case.

Mr Uludong is accused by the Special Prosecutor of forging a chief's signature when he filed a libel lawsuit against several individuals, including members of the media.

The alledged incident is in connection to an article regarding alleged vacant seats in BaiMelekeong--the highest traditional council of chiefs of Melekeok State.
