Cooks' Maoate takes over Pacific Mini Games Board

12:28 pm on 14 August 2009

The Cook Islands Deputy Prime Minister, Sir Terepai Maoate, has been appointed chairman of the Pacific Mini Games Board.

He replaces MP Wilkie Rasmussen who was sacked as foreign minister last month.

A statement from Sir Terepai's office says as Finance Minister it made sense the Deputy Prime Minister should chair the PMG Board.

Sir Terepai says he wants to ensure that the Games next month are a successful event for the region.

Cabinet has also recommended that MP John Tangi join the Board.
