Samoa's assistant police commissioner, Papalii Li'o, is calling for calm among members of two families involved in a land dispute.
A village chief suffered serious injuries from a machete attack after a land dispute, involving the chief's two sons and men from another family in Tufulele village, turned violent.
Another village man was also injured in the same attack.
Papalii Li'o has confirmed two small farm houses were also burnt as a result of the land dispute.
Four men have been arrested and charged with throwing stones, armed with a dangerous weapon and actual bodily harm.
Papalii says the injured men will also be facing charges.
Police say investigations into the incident is continuing.
