188 leaders in Vanuatu may face charges for breaches of the Leadership Code.
A report issued by Vanuatu's Ombudsman, Peter Taurokoto, has recommended prosecuting them for allegedly failing to submit financial returns for 2007 as required by the Code.
The 188 leaders had been expected to submit the returns to the Speaker's Office, but hadn't done so.
Mr Taurokoto also says the Clerk of Parliament, Lino Saksak, failed to comply with the same act by not reminding the leaders that they needed to send in the returns.
The Ombudsman's investigations also show that Mr Saksak allegedly failed to publish, on time, the names of leaders who had submitted their annual returns and those who had not.
