Rasmussen expelled from Cook Islands Democratic Party
Updated at 3:14 pm on 25 August 2009
The Cook Islands Democratic Party has expelled its Penrhyn MP Wilkie Rasmussen only weeks after he was stripped of his ministerial position.
The Party justified its move by saying that he continued to act in a manner that discredits the Party, the Government, the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister.
The executive says it is public knowledge that on July the 24th during parliament Mr Rasmussen admitted to conspiring to overthrow government with a vote of no-confidence in the Prime Minister.
It says Mr Rasmussen was unsuccessful and caught with his hand in the proverbial cookie jar.
