Head of Pacific Power Association says annual conference is critical

11:08 am on 26 August 2009

The executive director of the Pacific Power Association says its annual conference is critical to the future success of utilities of member countries.

Tony Neil says in addition to ongoing volatility in the cost of fossil fuel, the global economic crisis has compounded the hardship experienced by power utilities in the region.

Mr Neil says the conference, which opens tomorrow in American Samoa, will feature presentations from the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, AusAid and the United Nations.

200 delegates will be attending.
