The surfboard of a missing Japanese surfer in the Northern Marianas has been recovered, but the search teams failed yet again to locate the victim.
Acting Governor Eloy Inos has extended the search and recovery operation, after a meeting with the victim's parents and Japan Consulate officials yesterday.
Hirofumi Matusumuto was surfing with a friend on Sunday afternoon when a strong current pulled the two outside the reef.
After 30 minutes Mr Matusumuto's friend was able to paddle back to shore and alerted police.
Yesterday was supposedly the last day of the search, now considered a search and recovery operation.
