Two Fiji women released from alleged brothel in Canada

Police in Edmonton in Canada have charged three people and rescued three women, two of them Fiji citizens, from a brothel.

It is said to be the city's first alleged case of human trafficking.

According to Edmonton Sun, the women were lured to they city from elsewhere in Canada with the promise of jobs but were forced into prostitution.

Edmonton detective Dave Schening said the victims were terrified.

Mei Fang Chen, Xiu Zheng Chen and Qui Wang were charged with trafficking persons, living off the avails of prostitution and exercising control, direction or influence over a person for the purposes of prostitution
