Solomon Islands PM unveils plans to improve tertiary education

The Solomon Islands Prime Minister, Dr Derek Sikua, has unveiled plans to improve the provision of tertiary education in the country.

Dr Sikua made the announcement during the celebrations of the 25th Anniversary of Waimapuru National Secondary School in Makira Ulawa province.

He says this will include upgrading the status of the Solomon Islands College of Higher Education, the local campus for the University of the South Pacific and a proposed National University.

Since taking office the Sikua Government has made a major commitment to improving education, including the provision of fee free basic education.
