Leading member of ECPAT Samoa faces unlawful sexual charges

A leading member of the Samoan chapter of the international organisation ECPAT has been charged with an unlawful sexual relationship with his step daughter.

ECPAT is an international organization that deals with awareness programmes and campaigns to end child prostitution, pornography and child trafficking

The accused, Lome Tuala, faces one charge of carnal knowledge, but he may face more charges as the police have yet to finish their investigations.

Mr Tuala appeared yesterday in the Supreme Court before the chief justice, Patu Tiava'asu'e Falefatu Sapolu.

He was released on bail and ordered to reside in the village of Safa'ato'a Lefaga to avoid contact with the victim.
