Limited hours for sale of alcohol in Samoa extended

1:10 pm on 21 September 2009

The Samoa Government Liquor Board is maintaining limits on alcohol availability introduced earlier this month when the country changed to driving on the left hand side of the road.

Alcohol can only be sold for a limited number of hours, while the operational hours for night clubs are also restricted.

But alcohol can still be bought in hotels and restaurants, but only by diners.

Police say the alcohol restrictions have seen a drop a reduction in crime.
