A deal sealed two weeks ago has allowed direct international flights between Papua New Guinea and Fiji.
The flights will be operated by Air Niugini and Fiji's Air Pacific.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and PNG Civil Aviation Authority.
The acting Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Civil Aviation, Isikeli Mataitoga, said the agreement on air services initiated in Port Moresby last December was to allow faster travel between Nadi and Port Moresby.
PNG's acting Director General of Economic and Development Division of Foreign Affairs, Jimmy Ovia told the Fiji Sun the airfares were cheaper than going through Australia.
