Nauru and Kiribati do airline deal for Fiji service

Kiribati's national flag carrier, Air Kiribati, and Our Airline of Nauru have agreed to run a charter flight service between Tarawa and Nadi in Fiji.

The link was lost in 2005, when the Nauru airline had its sole Boeing 737 repossessed for failing to meet loan payments.

The Kiribati Minister for Transport, Temate Ereateiti, says this is a start of a new partnership that will help both countries by providing affordable travel.

The Fiji government has repeatedly rebuffed efforts of Nauru to reinstate a service to Fiji to protect Air Pacific's Nadi-Tarawa service.
