The Solomon Islands Prime Minister Derek Sikua has said the media has been selective in its reporting.

Speaking during the opening of the Premiers' Conference in Central Province, Dr Sikua said the government had been criticised for not acting hastily on various matters that have caught the attention of the media.

But according to a report by the national broadcaster, he has said the media has been selective in its reporting.

Dr Sikua says there is ongoing and substantial reform, reconstruction, strengthening and building of institutions, systems and laws.

He says some people don't understand what is happening but conceded that the government's communication is not working well either.
