Tsunami triggers travel plan rejig

The travel agency, House of Travel, says most New Zealanders, who planned holidays in Samoa, are postponing or cancelling their trip after last week's tsunami destroyed resorts on Upolu's south coast.

The agency's spokesperson, Jo Wedlock, says there's been a mixed response.

"Probably about 50 percent of people who are looking to make bookings or have made them are postponing their holidays and are looking at taking them in Samoa or Tonga maybe next year. Some are choosing to take their holiday up to Samoa; there are large portions of the island that haven't been affected, and some are looking at changing the location."

Another travel agency, Flight Centre, says most people choose to re-route or cancel their travel.
