Samoa to hold national service for tsunami victims

2:19 pm on 9 October 2009

About 2,000 people are expected to attend today's national memorial service in Samoa for tsunami victims.

At least 143 people were killed in Samoa by last week's earthquake and tsunami.

The government has sent buses to devastated areas so people without transport can attend the service in the capital Apia.

Following the service, 12 of the tsunami victims will be buried at a special site at the Tafaigata cemetery.
