Another pro-autonomy party has been launched in French Polynesia.

The Te Aho Api was launched by Clarenntz Vernaudon, who has been a member of the assembly with the To Tatou Aia party.

At the weekend launch attended by about 300 people, Mr Vernaudon claimed to have support of assembly members in all archipelagos.

According to Tahitipresse, this may translate to him trying to set up a separate group within the assembly's structure.

Last week, the ToTatou Aia leader, Gaston Tong Sang, appeared to have ended his moves to split away from the coalition government he had helped form half a year ago.
