The New Zealand government is providing Samoa with a further 2.9 million US dollars for tourism reconstruction following the recent tsunami.
New Zealand has already provided around five point seven million US dollars in assistance and Samoa's Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi says his country is grateful for the support.
He says the country is now entering a three year reconstruction phase in which roads, water and electricity reticulation to new settlements will be the priority.
Tuilaepa says this will cost about 110 million US dollars.
New Zealand Foreign Minister, Murray McCully, says the additional aid from this country will go towards restoring tourism.
"We have got a little bit of work to do to give that shape yet. There is a report that the Samoan Government will receive in the coming days about the issues that need to be attended to to get the tourism sector up and running properly, but we have made that in principle allocation and we will be working over the next week or two weeks to finalise its details."
