Fiji's interim Prime Minister says business relations with NZ and Australia still good

Fiji's interim Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, has used an annual gathering of business executives to re-assert that all is well between New Zealand, Australia and his country at the business level.

Speaking at Fiji's Exporter of the Year Awards after last week's tit-for-tat diplomatic expulsions, he said there is a need to separate the political from trade, tourism and the economy.

Commodore Bainimarama said while the governments of Fiji, Australia and New Zealand had taken respective positions at the political and diplomatic level, his government would not let such issues affect or discourage business co-operation, collaboration and investment.

Fiji Live reports that he again offered engagement at all levels with the two governments on what he called, a level playing field in which Fiji's sovereignty and dignity is respected and maintained.
