The indecent assault charge against a senior preacher at the Church of Christ in Samoa has been dismissed.

Joseph Stanley Hansell, widely known as Joe Hansell, walked free of the charge following a Supreme Court verdict.

The 60 year-old man had been charged with the offence after a female member of the same church filed a complaint last July.

She told the court the preacher had picked her up from work and took her to an isolated road where she was indecently assaulted.

However, in his verdict, the presiding judge, Vui Clarence Nelson, said the prosecution evidence could not prove the allegation.
