Tahiti's French senator Tuheiava disbarred for two years

Reports from French Polynesia say that one of its two members of the French Senate, Richard Tuheiava, has been disbarred.

Mr Tuheiava is not allowed to work as lawyer for two years after he was found to have taken money from clients without doing any work.

He is a member of the pro-independence Union For Democracy and became a senator last year, running for office with Gaston Flosse of the Tahoeraa Huiraatira.

Mr Flosse is in a Tahiti jail as part of a probe into alleged corruption.
