Police in Samoa are investigating allegations that some young women are involved in organised prostitution.

The commissioner of police, Lilomaiava Fou Taioalo, said the women in their late teens are reportedly being coached by an older woman

The Samoa Observer newspaper reports some of the women have been visiting places such as the campsite of Asian workers currently employed to help build a new multimillion

court house at Mulinuu.

The police commissioner says prostituion, which is illegal in Samoa, was previously a problem around the main wharf at

Matautu in Apia.

However the practice has been reduced by increases in security at the port.
