4:11 pm on 1 December 2009

The police in Fiji say more than 50 million US dollars worth of marijuana plants have been uprooted from 26 farms around the country in the last week.

The Police Commissioner Esala Teleni told Fiji Live they are now concentrating on conducting raids in the Navosa/Nadroga area, as well as eastern parts of Viti Levu, the Rewa Delta/Tacirua and Tailevu.

The Police Commissioner says they are trying to reduce the flow of marijuana to towns and cities.

Police have also arrested three drivers for allegedly delivering drugs to parts of Viti Levu.
