The first three houses of the more than 600 homes damaged in Samoa by the tsunami have been rebuilt in the village of Sale'aumua in Aleipata.

The three new houses were built with the assistance of the Caritas Samoa, which is part of a global organization of the Catholic Church.

The construction was carried out with the help of Habitat for Humanity in New Zealand.

The organisation plans to help build 28 homes in the village of Saleaumua.

Caritas Samoa has offered to finance the construction of seventy homes and provide water tanks for each family included in their

assistance.
