The lawyer acting for the jailed French Polynesian veteran politician, Gaston Flosse, says legal action will be taken against the Nouvelles de Tahiti newspaper for its publication of leaked transcripts of an ongoing investigation.
Francois Quinquis has told local RFO radio that by publishing the transcript of interviews with his client, the guaranteed confidentiality of the investigation has been violated.
He says this is a serious breach of the criminal code.
Mr Quinquis has also lashed out at the French newspaper Le Figaro for reporting that his client had admitted to profitting personally from payments made by top companies.
Gaston Flosse's admission was reportedly made during questioning over the OPT affair in October but his lawyer says the line has been taken out of context and is false.
