The Vanuatu Government is planning to spend 161 million US dollars in the coming year.

The Minister of Finance, Sela Molisa, yesterday introduced the budget which detailed a seven percent lift in spending on the current year.

Mr Molisa told parliament the Government wants to improve the delivery of services, such as education, health and security, to the people in rural areas.

More than half the budget funding is from donor countries, including New Zealand and Australia, which have made major commitments to Vanuatu's education sector and the land reforms.
